Luxembourg registers you through its schemes
In Luxembourg you rarely register yourself. AEV runs the Luxembourg WEEE and battery register through its e-RA tool, but for most producers registration happens by joining the single approved scheme for each stream, which then registers you with the authority.
Ecotrel handles electronics and Ecobatterien handles batteries. Producers with only business volumes can instead seek individual approval through e-RA.
What AEV covers
- Electronics: household equipment needs Ecotrel membership, which registers you with the AEV; business equipment can be Ecotrel or individual approval, with an annual report by 30 April.
- Batteries: under the EU Battery Regulation and the 2012 waste law; portable batteries need Ecobatterien membership, while industrial and EV batteries can be Ecobatterien or individual approval.
- Single-use plastics: so far only tobacco products with filters, through Valorlux as the sole approved organisation.

Producers that first place electrical equipment or batteries on the Luxembourg market, importers and foreign distance sellers included.
Joining a scheme
- Determine your stream and whether you are household or business scope.
- Join the approved scheme, Ecotrel or Ecobatterien, which registers you with the AEV, or seek individual approval through e-RA.
- For business electronics, file the annual report to the AEV by 30 April.
Selling in from abroad
Foreign distance sellers count as producers. For batteries there is no authorised-representative delegation, so a foreign seller joins Ecobatterien or obtains individual AEV approval itself. Electronics follow the same join-the-scheme route.
