Cyprus registers through its environment department
Cyprus has no single branded register. The Cypriot EPR producer register is really the Department of Environment itself, where producers sign up and then join a licensed collective system for each stream.
Where a producer has no Cyprus establishment, the local importer or agent usually registers and carries the duties.
What the registers cover
- Packaging: join Green Dot Cyprus, licensed since 2006, or run an approved individual system.
- Electronics: compliance through WEEE Electrocyclosis Cyprus, or individually.
- Batteries: national EPR since 2009 via AFIS Cyprus, with the EU Battery Regulation applying directly from 18 August 2025.
- Tyres: through approved systems such as RTM Tyres Recycling or E4C.
- Single-use plastics: listed producers had to register with the authority by mid-2022.
Who must register
Producers that first place a covered product on the Cypriot market, distance sellers included. Without a Cyprus establishment, the first local importer or agent typically registers instead.
How registration works
- Identify which product stream applies.
- Register with the Department of Environment, or ensure your Cyprus importer does.
- Join the licensed collective system for the stream, or gain approval for an individual one.
- Report and pay contributions as the system requires.
Foreign producers and the local importer
No fully implemented authorised-representative regime is published on current official pages. Older official guidance states that foreign firms without a Cyprus establishment cannot register directly, so the local importer or agent registers and bears the duties.
