Slovenia keeps a dedicated battery producer register held by the Ministry of the Environment (MOPE). It is where producers enrol under the national decree implementing the EU Battery Regulation.

Slovenia's battery register under the EU rules

Slovenia keeps a dedicated battery register, rebuilt around the EU Battery Regulation. This is the Slovenian battery producer register held by MOPE, part of the country's EPR system, and it is required under the decree that implements the Regulation.

National battery duties date to 2010, and applications are filed through the SPOT business portal.

What the register covers

Batteries and accumulators under the decree implementing the EU Battery Regulation. Its producer-responsibility provisions apply from 18 August 2025, and the register is required under Article 39 of the decree.

Who has to register

Producers that first place batteries or accumulators on the Slovenian market, importers and distance sellers included.

Getting onto the battery register

  1. Confirm your battery categories under the EU Battery Regulation.
  2. If not established in Slovenia, appoint a Slovenian authorised representative (see below).
  3. Apply for entry in the MOPE battery register through the SPOT portal.
  4. Join a compliance scheme and report as required.

Overseas battery producers

Producers not established in Slovenia fulfil their duties through an authorised representative under the EU Battery Regulation, with the entry made in the MOPE register under Article 39 of the batteries decree.
