A producer established abroad that sells batteries to Danish end-users must appoint an authorised representative. This is not optional for batteries.
For EU sellers the representative registers under its own Danish CVR number and carries the duties on your behalf. Non-EU distance sellers register directly in DPA instead.
The dates ahead for batteries in Denmark
Enforcement sits with Miljøstyrelsen under the battery order (BEK 986/2025), which implements the EU Battery Regulation and carries fines for selling without registering. No Danish rule tells marketplaces to check your number, so when a platform asks for one, that is its own policy.
The next hard dates are set at EU level. From 18 February 2027 portable batteries must be removable and replaceable by the user, and a battery passport applies to EV, light-means-of-transport and industrial batteries above 2 kWh.
Collection targets rise on the same clock. Portable batteries must reach 63 percent by the end of 2027 and 73 percent by the end of 2030, while light-means-of-transport batteries move to 51 percent by the end of 2028.
