Textiles EPR in Greece is a rule waiting for a scheme. Law 4819/2021 wrote a textile producer-responsibility hook into Greek law (article 10) and expected a scheme by the end of 2023, but none launched.
The clock that matters now is the EU one. The revised Waste Framework Directive is in force and sets firm dates for every member state, Greece included.
Separate textile collection is already an EU requirement, which is why a producer scheme feels overdue.

Once a scheme runs, you will be in scope if you are any of these:
- A producer or brand placing textiles or footwear on the Greek market
- An importer bringing such products into Greece
- A distance seller shipping them to Greek buyers
What a textile scheme will cost in Greece
There is no Greek textile tariff yet, so the layers below are the shape, not a price. When a scheme runs the cost is set to come in three parts.
First an EMPA registration, then a contribution to the approved textile scheme, and on top an eco-modulated fee that flexes with how durable and recyclable the product is. The revised directive builds that modulation in.
How registration and reporting will work in Greece
Nothing is operational to register into yet. When Greece transposes the directive and EOAN approves a scheme, the route should follow the usual Greek pattern:
- Take a producer number in EMPA, the national register.
- Join the approved textile scheme once one is designated.
Reporting begins once the scheme runs, and until then there is no operational duty to enforce.
A foreign producer will act through an authorised representative in Greece under Law 4819/2021 article 9.
