The loi du 9 juin 2022 transposed the EU SUP Directive into Luxembourg law. But single-use plastics EPR in Luxembourg is only partly in force. As of mid-2026, the only SUP category with a formal EPR scheme is tobacco products with filters, run through Valorlux under approval REP N°1/AG-CIG/23.

The dates ahead for single-use plastics in Luxembourg
The EU SUP Directive set further targets that Luxembourg must meet. By 2029, 90% of plastic beverage bottles must be collected separately. By 2030, plastic bottles must contain at least 30% recycled content.
A SUP item that is also packaging sits under two obligations at once. The packaging duty runs through Valorlux membership, and the SUP cost-coverage layer (where it exists) adds on top.
